We are excited to share our latest newsletter, which should also soon be arriving in mailboxes in AAOKH communities.
In addition to an overview of winter-spring 2022 observations and environmental conditions, this edition features a summary of recent ocean measurements and observations from Qikiktaġruk (Kotzebue), a welcome to our new postdoc Alex Ravelo, and updates on our student’s work, including:
- Roberta Tuurraq Glenn’s launch of a new storyMap that will be featured during a virtual walk-through on August 17 at 11 am (learn more about the event here).
- Mik’aq Lindley’s preliminary results of her changing perceptions of fish in AAOKH communities. There’s still time to participate in her survey for fishers in AAOKH communities, and enter to win a $100 gift card!
- Kimberly Kivvaq Pikok’s film project about spring whaling in Utqiaġvik.
- A reflection by Roberta Tuurraq Glenn, on her time working with AAOKH as a UAF graduate student. Congrats on her successful defense and completion of her MS thesis!! It’s been an honor and privilege to learn from and work with Roberta – stay tuned to learn more about her next steps.
